Ryan Schiffer
Board of Directors

Ryan M. Schiffer joined the Board of Directors of The Friends as the youth representative from the Youth Pride Committee in January 2008. He has been an active member on the Youth Pride Committee since 2005. Ryan brings to the Board his experiences as a youth and a unique perspective as a veteran and current Member of the Youth Pride Committee

Ryan is a senior in high school at the top of his class, along with achieving academic excellence; Ryan holds a leadership position on his student board, event planning committee, fundraising committee, and yearbook staff. Not only does Ryan excel in school but also at work. Ryan has been working full time for Canton Fence Co. for the past 6 years. Although the company has had its shares of ups & downs, Ryan maintained a dedicated and reliable employee. Here, Ryan has gained respect from co-workers, and even his employer. Next year, Ryan hopes to stay local by attending a four year private university right here in Boston.

Being a gay youth in his community, Ryan has a strong sense of who he is. Pride, being one of the main aspects, because of this, he strongly admires Youth Pride. Being an active member on the Youth Pride Committee since 2005 has helped Ryan to engage with the event and its coordinating. Working closely with Kelly Lydon over the past few years Ryan's been able to learn more about the event, its history, and its effects on the youth in his community. As Ryan takes on many of the new challenges coming his way, he will remain a member of the Board of Directors and The Youth Pride Committee for many years to come.
